There are speculated benefits to ICD 10, such as: quality measurement, flexability for new codes, information sharing, information technology compatability, rational reimbursement, better research data, etc..  There are however huge costs to adopting ICD 10, such as: personnel training, it development, lost productivity, recertification, increased audits, etc.


Will ICD 10 be worth it?

Yes, I think it will be totally worth it since the U.S. will transition from ICD-9 to ICD-10 and lot of medical coders prepare for ICD-10 for their career.


Here is the school I take ICD-10 training from, it is 100 % self paced online courses so you don't have to worry about going to school every day or so.
