Yes, I think it will be totally worth it since the U.S. will transition from ICD-9 to ICD-10 and lot of medical coders prepare for ICD-10 for their career.

Here is the school I take ICD-10 training from, it is 100 % self paced online courses so you don't have to worry about going to school every day or so.

I know that clinics/physician practices will still be using CPT for procedure codes instead of ICD-10-PCS, but has anyone heard anything about a drastic change for CPT coding around the same time, as well? I am wondering how CPT is going to 'keep up' with specificity with the increase in ICD-10-PCS? I would think they would have to increase their code volume/specificity, as well?

I might also add that the live event is only available to the first 1000 attendees, but if you are not one of the lucky ones to get in on the live event the AAPC is still going to give a recording of the webinars to anyone for free. All they have to do is register. So, that's good.

I am currently a CPC and have just started studying for the CCS. I was wondering if anyone had any good tips on what I should concentrate on or what the test is mostly made up of? I do have the book CCS prep that I have bought and have become a member of AHIMA.

Any suggestions are appreciated!!!

I have checked out the GEM info available at CMS. Has anyone started theirs? I am thinking an Excel spreadsheet with the info, but I am not the greatest at it.

Has anyone come up with a template that all can use?

There are speculated benefits to ICD 10, such as: quality measurement, flexability for new codes, information sharing, information technology compatability, rational reimbursement, better research data, etc.. There are however huge costs to adopting ICD 10, such as: personnel training, it development, lost productivity, recertification, increased audits, etc.

Will ICD 10 be worth it?
