Contingency Plan for ICD-10
October 27th, 2011
Wanted to take a quick minute and mention that if you don’t have a contingency plan in the case that your EMR is not ICD-10 ready that you should plan to work with your current IT systems to remediate them.
This could involve working with you software to convert ICD-9 codes to ICD-10 codes via a crosswalk, or down code from ICD-10 to ICD-9 codes so you can submit claims in both ways.
Does your organization have an ICD-10 contingency plan?
